Hey...

...this shit was really cool! I really liked the synth work, but please remove that voice sample, it really sucked.
Also, i´d expect this song to go crazy in usuall dnb breakbeat style, but yiu kept the beat slow around 90bpm style o to say, instead of going loco with a fast and fat breakbeat. I thought this sinse its liste int dnb section, but hey nevermind that. I still think the song is really cool. Great (synth) job.

jasonlaurie responds:

thanks for the advice. i didnt put much effort into this song really, I was just expirementing with new syth effects. but i took your advice and im working on a better version. -cheers

This sounded...

...alot like it could come from a movie. I rally like the piano riff, it was caged yet free, so to say. Uhm...
Could be my ears, but it feels like theres a little too much resonance on the first note thingy, it got a little too high for me anyway. Thats just me being picky tho :)

Great work anyhow!

orange-peel responds:

Cage but free eh, nice:) I think you might be right in the fact that the single note is a little high in the mix.
Thanks for reviewing.

nah man...

...things are out of rythm, and it sounds like a couple of random tunes in different tempo glued together with low effort.

i dont know what you use recording your songs, but obviously you are using a midikeyboard. There´s something called "quantizising" wich is a feature to get notes magically in place to get it tight. learn how to use it. Also, it doesnt sound like youve been using a metronome to get things tight, check the metronome out as well.
This is just way to random the way it is. There are some of the small riffs that could be pretty good, but as it is now? nopes...
sry man. :(

hope this is to any help of ya tho. Good luck!

heather-lanham responds:

hmm...thanks! i'll remember to do something about the rifts of the next song, when i did this, i had no idea what i was doing, i was just putting random crap together. since i didn't know what i was doing, i was unable to edit it properly. i'll probable remove this thing from the portal today.

Nice song...

...it kindof gets me to think of some experimental french video... i guess its the main ssample, the one who start the song that does it.
I love it when the beat comes in, the boom-basedrum fits really really nice in the mix there. However, when the subbass comes in, it eats wayy too much headroom, and destroy the sweet booom i earlier mentioned. perhaps you should have had the subbass not playing full notes, and in better conjunction with the "booom".
Anyway, this is really cool. The beat is nice and sits tight. Ugh that subbass really do take over too much :(
anyway, i hear youre using reason wich aint that good... the "sproing" effect that starts fast and gets slower does it.that mod shape is very typical reason-sounding, if u catch my drift.

Othervise, this is a very experimental track, and id love toe hear some rapping and/or skratching on top of it, it´d be really awsoem! keep up the good work mate!

StrangeEncounters responds:

Thanks for the review! Rapping? Meh, I don't like it.
Svenska?

Cats are...

...fucking overrated, get yourselves a fucking gerbil or 25 >:(

I fucking love that beat, it makes me think of good times, good times in the institution i once went to a couple of times. they made me feel happy there. Yeah.

cat-bastards responds:

NOEZ! We're getting us a bastard mobile so that we can drive arround and laugh at you! >:(

We thought teh song was depressing! >:(

ur gay! >:(

Wow that...

..."bubleish" synt hin the beginning was really 3-d earcandy man!
This stuff is awsome. Im not 100% of the lighter arp tho, it felt a little.. inprisonated, so to say. Perhaps some automation to make it shift or so would beef it up a little.
Anyway this stuff is wicked, great job!

No1r responds:

Thanks Rucklo for this review too! That synth still is the TS-404 synth included with Fruity Loops :)

This stuff...

...is really well produced and clear. What soft/hardware are you using making music?

I really liked the atmospheric feeling this little song gave. The string pads felt really good. And the small blipp in conjunction with the "aah" and the harp(?) made this, like i said, very atmospheric. Good stuff man. It´s a5!

No1r responds:

Hi Rucklo! Thanks for giving a review! I'm pleasured!
This has been done in Fruity Loops (as other works as well). I don't use any hardware except for my yamaha midi keyboard. Sounds comes from Fruity Loops and sample cds. The blipp and the "harps" were done with the ts-404 synth. The initial caotic sounds were produced with the Beepmap synth and for the noise i used the 3xosc synth :)
THANKS again!

Well...

...effort was a tough one, since i dont know if you´re playing the guitar yourself or not.

However, to the full song itself, there are a few things to say;
First of the guitar was really good performed.
The beat was really simple, as it should when were talking about hip-hop beats.
However, simple beats are still processed in pro-production, and what you could do here to make the production sound better is simply to add a compressor, prefereably a multiband type (so u can compress different frequencies different). Usually there are pre-sets that are good to start out with, then you can tweak the settings to your likings.

One thing that would have beefed this baby up alot would have been a subbass/boom to go with the basedrum. If you decide to add one, do NOT overuse it, as it easily will eat alot of headrom in such a "non busy" mix such as thisone.

Im not sure at all what level youre on here. If you played the guitar yourself, if you know anything about music... I hope you still have some use of this review.

nickolas-lumpkin responds:

Thank's man i was just playing around with some stuff i really dont know how to make a beat...but im trying to so that what i came up with...but think for tha good feed back...

Now...

...were talking though!
This stuff is good man (or if u a girl...)! I knew it would be foolish of me to judge you from your "I-poo" (wich was fucking hilarious btw). This is very well produced, and has good depth. It reminds me a whole lot of The Knives. Who´s making the volcals? Its good stuff.

There are some peaking going on ion this song, but nothing a compressor eq sandwich and a limiter can´t take care of!
I would however suggest you work a little more with the mix if you have the possibility to.

UnrealClock responds:

Yeah I will probably do another remix... the vocals and everything actualy by some band I never heard of, but they had a remixing contest on acidplanet so I went to work! Any way I recomend listing to my best work Rythmic Sadness (a song that does not have a rythm!)
Thanks for the review >_<

You said...

..."also I just want to be able to delete some of my old crappy work! Jeez like any one wants to listen to I-Poo! WTF was I thinking?"

This is the worst shit ever, I fucking love it.
