Well...

...this sounds decent enough, but it´s very simple, and just because a song "sounds" simple, it doesn´t have to be that. This son however, reaaally sound simple all the way through, wich in this case is a bad thing.
Don´t get me wrong, i think it´s a decent loop... so why make it so long?

As for the samples you´ve used, it´s difficult to tell if you´ve even processed them yourself, as far as I know this may be all pure samples, wich really isn´t that difficult to mix together, now is it?

Anyway, like mentioned it does sond pretty cool, but very very empty. Even though there seem to be good reverb on the stings (your doing or pure smpled, i dunno), but the delayed guitar sounds really really cheap.
The bassy hit that runs through is pretty cool, but a suggestion to you is to try to keep the sounds that are loudest in the lower freq. mono, there are many reasons for this; if record played off of vinyl, it may skip if bass is panned/stereo widened, bass freq. contains alot of enery, this mean you basicly unbalance the whole mix when doing this.

Anyway, cool beat, and good luck with future project. I hope this is helping you out some.

BotonyProduktions responds:

Thanks for the review man. Ill take any help that I can get. I didn't use any samples man. I don't use "Samples" in any of my work. It's all FL Studio and Pro Tools.

*BooM* Headshot!

Ya little ass...

...ya left me all alone on msn... ur gonna pay for that.-.. >: (

Anyway, this sounds cool. But somehow i get a freakin deja-vu from your previous DnB track we discussed many months ago... yea thats right, the fucking bass is sliiightly on the right on thisone as well >:O

Keep ur bass mono, matie!! >:)

Other than that, this sounds like it has potential, I´d make a more powerfull and buzzinig reece were I you though, the one that´s there is pretty cool, but sounds a little too basic, to be honest.

Try to get your subbass to go "bwaaaouuubwaooouuu", you know how to do it... If not, just set to sine osc exactly the same, except for the cent... set the cent on opposite values (20 and -20 for example) and sample the sound, then pitch shift in whatever software u use nowadays...

By the way, that subbass could have use for juuuust alitttttlllee tiiiny bit of distortion... It sounds great to override a compressor and dist it...
Ya probably knew all this, but whatever... there´s my opinion anyway >:D

Check my tracks some day, will ya? :´(

c u on msn

DJRunaway responds:

Thanks for the review man :) To be quiet honest, I didn't knew any of that :) I'm still kind of a noob in the DnB scene :) You gotte explain all that shit to me on MSN man, I'm really eager to learn! Thanks again for the kickass review!

You´ve so many...

...plain out right weird songs, taht you somehwo manage to make good.
This song is a great example of that.

Really well balanced mix, and freaky sounds that makes this glitchy.
You´re one of the most talented audio artists on this site I´d dare say, that is if you can understand glitch :)
Loved the beat that came in in the end. A short sample of a slightly pitched up human vpoice going "ah", "eh" or something would have been perfect to fill it up even more and make it even weirder!

LJCoffee responds:

He-hey!

Thanks for the review - It's always nice to get a little validation from time to time.

I've had a few people comment on the lead synth - apparently it's not quite refined enough or something... no biggie - It wasn't quite exactly what I was trying for but it was pretty close to what I had in mind. That particular synth is going to be pretty cool when the author finally gets it done. Check it out at http://www.karmafx.dk/ - it's a pretty cool little modular beast.

Well... as for weird shit, I guess that's about what I'm good for. Thanks for the compliments!

I'll talk to you in mere moments I'm sure!

I first heard this track...

...on the buss on my way home from school, right after you sent it too me.

Nowadays I keep volume pretty low on my headphones,´my ears have taken quite some beating from them, so i couldn´t quite "reach all the goodies".
One thing I heard at ones, and that was that even tho there were alot of backgroundnoice, i could still make out alot of sounds. This shit is clear as a freaking day. Your mixing skills are as good as ever. And I also noticed something I didn´t like, twas that "ding" cymbal/bell whatever it was, it strikes twice when it occurs here and there in the song. It definitley felt nessecary with something similiar, but i just didnt like it, the sound itself sounded wrong in my ears.

Anyway, there is a synth that just fuckign blow my mind, it´s the one that follows through the whole song. Smooth thing, not the bass-like drone, but the other one. The drone is fucking hardcore too tho. But perhaps thatone could have been a little more varied and alive and had it´s oown "solo section"? N ot nessecary, really, but I love it when buzzy drones goes "bzzzOOOAAAZZZRRRRZZZZZZzzzzz" with a filter and a reasonale amount of resonance smashes it in the very center and front of the mix!!!

THe bassdrum sounds cool, as does the whole beat, to be honest (except that beell thingy i mentioned:)
The compressed snare really splashes in nice like hell, giving me a sensation that it hit´s really hard, when it in fact is fairly low in the mix. Nice one.
The glitching, hopping, usage of filters and all those buzzy blipping effects that jumps around on each side... manm this may not be the "best" song I´ve heard from you, but holy hell it might very well be one of the most entertaining ones!! ´

I´ve listened through it a couple of times since i came home and off the buss :) and yeah, it´s definitley a grower. The more I hear it, the more it grows.

I assume you´ve used acid for some noices and sampled some stuff, is the rest reason?

I just freaking envy your amazing pruduction and mixing skills man, good part is that you kep improivng all the freakin time!!!

This track is an honest straight freakin ten in the categories that NG reviewing allow!

Good luck at yer new home man, it´s good to have you back online!!! :)

Kingbastard responds:

Always nice to receive a review from the big R:) Cheers for your constant support

awsome-...

this song really got to me, it felt like directly from a movie, like some guy being chased and getting small pauses in between. this was just fucking awsome! make more weird stuff like this!

orange-peel responds:

okeydokey

This has to be...

...one of the best dnb songs i´ve heard on NG. I really love the baseline, it´s awsome.
This feel really pumping, it would go great in a game of a fast nature, or a space shooter like raidenX, Raptor or whatever! Great job man, it´s a clear five!

Doc-Marsh responds:

Thanks a lot. I appreciate the compliments.

I <3 you. No more fighting, only hugging. lots of hugging :)

;D

Really really nice...

...stuff man. This is sweet and tender, like a love story.
I´ve heard your guitarplaying and you really really rocks at that.
However i htink you should reconsider what things are standing out in the mix. The piano got wquite long back, while the guitar was forward all the time. Altering to show whats important at the moment throughout the song would be a good idea. When the guitar is more of a backing instrument, bring it back some.

Other than that ill have to say this is really really good stuff man! Loved it when you brought in the diste guitar. Cool as hell! Good job!!

Metaljonus responds:

Thanks man, I don't know if you are talking about the rhythm guitar or the lead melody??? I did notice the rhythm is pretty loud when the strummin sets in.

I really liked...

... the feeling of this song man. it´s got an infections sound, that i think you should try take further. There are a few things that interrupts the flow, the hihat is questionable, specially when it goes to double hit, it just doesnt feel right. I love the effects u added, but you really gotta try filling up some parts that got a little quiet, in between the effect (towards the end). Some filtering or other automated effect will take care of that, no worries.

Like i said tho, i relaly like the overall sound, its raw stuff i wouldnt mind dancing to on a rave or so.
I agree what -zenon- said about panning tho, keep low freqq sounds mono, and loud sounds mono. Panning is great, but it have to be balanced....

Great job tho!

itsameyayo responds:

Thanks!

Yeah, I'll have to ask for some help from people to learn more stuff. I also have to get more samples, and learn to make more. It's a learning experience, and I don't have all the time in the world to work on this all the time unfortunately. Thanks for the review!!!
