Rucklo's News

For those who might care (can't picture who, but here goes anyway):

- I'll be moving to Stockholm over the next few days to continue working on my final thesis at DICE. I'll be spending even less time on Newgrounds than I have over the last few weeks/months, in favour of my thesis. And when I say "spend less time" I basically mean less time on the forum and such.

I'll likley still be logging in once/day to rack up mah gold skawrz, because that really matters what
Point is that I'll still be more or less accessable when it comes to PM and moderation issues that doesn't crave immediate attention.

That'd be all kthx!

After first a positive responce and as close to a "yes" you can come from Dice to do my final thesis there at the audiodepartment, they had to decline just before christmas due to internal issues. Dice is an EA-company that among other things made the whole Battlefield-series, with Bad Company 2 being one of the recent big hits.

However, after a discussion things have now been solved, and I'll move to Stockholm (where the company is located) sometime in March, and continue working on the final thesis. It's me and another dude who'll be doing more or less the same thing, so during the first month we'll do as much planning we can, and then continue when we get there.

What we're gonna do is related to a soundconcept called worldizing, and it's gonna be shitload of hard, fun work!!!!!!!!!!

R.I.P. Luid.
I wonder if they buried him in Mexico under a taco-tree, like he always said he'd want as his final restingplace.

NG staffmember Luid is dead

[EDIT]: All nine loops uploaded!

- Soon enough you will find links to nine loops that was supposed to be for an Arkanoid-ish type of game. After making two demos, the company I was making the loops for and the actual client seemed satisfied with the sound, and gave me the thumbs up to finish the job.

- This was supposed to be a paid job, but as the deadline was passed and I had sent the loops to the company, I didn't hear anything. I took contact after a week or so, and then it came up that the client had had a change of heart, and was looking for something more orchestral/classical instead of the "awe-inspiring" spacey type of soound I had gotten the thumbs up for.

- The loops I made never got used in the game, and of course I got no $ for the job either. I understand the company want to please the client and whatnot, but it was still quite frustrating as I by that time had other stuff that required alot of attention that I didn't give as high priority as this job.

- The company said that they would keep the loops "hot", and show them to other clients and whatnot, but about six months have now passed, and I've heard nothing. I said I'd be willing to wait until christmas or so, but yeah, nothing... Anyway, I don't like my material being stuck in limbo where noone can hear them, so I figured I might as well share the loops to the people on my favourite website!

- I'll try to remember to upload one (or two) loop(s)/day or so, and will add a link to this page everytime a new one is up. NG has a two uploads/day limit, so I'll get to the rest as time goes by.

All loops right here!
- First out is a compilation of all the Nine Loops mixed together.

Separate loops:
Rucklo - Arend (1)
Rucklo - Biela (2)
Rucklo - Chernykh (3)
Rucklo - Ciffreo (4)
Rucklo - d'Arrest - 5)
Rucklo - Gibbs (6)
Rucklo - Jarnac (7)
Rucklo - Kojima (8)
Rucklo - Lagerkvist (9)

Miscellaneous info:
- If you want to use them for your animation/game, drop me a PM and I can provide you with the .wav instead of the mp3 that you here can download. I might be able to make full tunes/required length out of selected loops if I have time to do so, and belive in Your project. :)

- All .wav files are 25 seconds exactly, 96BPM and 10 bars each. The mp3 adds a few millisecs that screws the perfect loop, in case you did not know (but the NG AP player seem to have a function that somewhat counters that, in some cases at least).

- All loops are, as newspost title suggest, named after comets. I just thought it suited the material.

- One of the tunes, Rucklo - Chernykh (3), I'll be remaking for a school project. It will be longer and mixed in both 2.0 stereo and 5.1 surround.

[EDIT: I got a clip from Mindchamber that suits my need PERFECT! It's a project from him that is on hold/have been cancelled, so if the actual sounddesign+ the movieclip ever will see the light of the day is unsure. I will however use it as it is for my school-project!/]

What
- I'm currently taking a project-oriented class, where one of four project is about designing all sound for a short commercial/animation/movie.

Length
- The movieclip should be around 30-60 seconds, but it do depend on how much is actually going on in there.
I am looking for something that have exciting environments and other things that goes on that actually makes noises.

Old animations OK
- The movie doesn't nessecarily have to be in the makings, it's perfectly cool if you want your old animation with scruffy sound to get all audio renewed.

Not really a collab
- Since this is a school-project, it musn't be a collab in it's normal sense. I will have to plan and make all the sounds myself from scratch (save eventual voices, if they're decentley recorded...). I do have access to a soundbank, but I intend on using that as little as possible. Ideas etc. are welcome, but I'll need to be able to make all final judgements myself.

lol
- My first choise was Mindchambers Pico's Unloaded, but it's a little too long for the time I have to spend for this project.
The movie doesn't nessecarily have to have guns in them. It's likley I won't be able to record weapons, so yeah...

Links, pl0x!!!
- Anyway, if you're interested or know of any cool animations that you think need new sound, drop a link here! It doesn't HAVE to be from Newgrounds, but you know, it's more fun if it is as I'm using Newgrounds to drop this WANTED! poster... othervice Tom might be sad No.1 :(

WANTED: Animation to enhance with Sound

So, I've been barking up a certain tree since summer to do my final thesis. The company is named DICE, and are the ones who made the Battlefield-series among other games. They started out as Digital Illusions (now they're a part of EA), and were famous for their pinball games during the 90's (pinball illusions, dreams...).

Now, I haven't gotten a complete YES just yet, but the sound-department (as I'm studying soundengineering...) have said YES. So, I'm just awaiting the Human Relations department for a final decision...

Now, I'm EXTREMLEY psyked for this. Even though it very likley will not lead to an actual employment (which they've made clear already), I'll have a chanse to work alongside five fulltime employed sound-designers, who've been working with quite a few titles...
I expect that I will learn a great deal both doing the actual work I'm supposed to do (which is sound-design related in a technical way), and by just being able to see what they actually do there, and hopefully be able to lend a hand. Be it my sparetime or not... This is mainly about SFX and designing audio, so whoopedidoo!

I never really knew what I wanna do when I "grow up", but I've decided some time ago that I'll at least give the sound-business a chanse, as I'm studying sound (started out as a hobby, making music for my shitty home-made movies...). Where this takes me I don't know, maybe I'll do something completley different when this is done, but who knows...

So I'm just gonna cross my fingers that HR doesn't have any problems with anything...

ten fingers crossed with themselves WITHOUT BREAKING THEM LOLOLOL:

I'm on the final year of the soundengineering program here. During spring I'm supposed to make my final thesis project, and I'm currently looking up various companies and ideas for this...

Project length/size
- The size of the project is 3/4 of the whole spring season, so say about 3-4 months fulltime, or something like that.

Specific interests
- Games are of big interest to me. Something similiar to making music/sfx/soundscapes for a game would be really cool. I would need to come up with some kind of investigating point of view, as it's suppsed to be at least somewhat technical in nature, but it shouldn't be too hard to come up with something, if there's a game to make stuff for... in a few years I hope to have learned to program enough to be able to fully take part of the sound-desigining in game-projects.

Any other interests?
- Movie-scores/foleywork/sfx etc. is quite similiar to major game-audio designing, so that stuff is of interest too.
The education is actually slightly leaned towards live-performances, I already work extra as a soundtechnician at live sets, but I'd prefer to make some kind of design towards movies/games. But if the right idea and oppurtunity turns up, I'll be interested...

Where at?
- The school studio is in Sweden, but I don't mind travelling somewhere to do the project (f.ex. I could go somewhere to record everything, then take it all back with me and mix it in Sweden). I'm flexible, in other words. Australia might actually make alot of sense, since I'm thinking about going there for a year, using the "working holiday visa" (which is valid for one year)...

SSSDFGHHH WHAT DO YOU WANT US READERS FOR THEN?
- Weeell, I'm asking You, dear Newgrounds, if You have an idea or perhaps a good tips of what kind of audio-project I can undertake? I do have a couple of baits out already, but I'm activley searching so that I hopefully can choose between different projects and pick the one most suited to my interests.

Yaaay!
