Looking for Final Thesis Audio Project!

Posted by Rucklo - October 24th, 2010

I'm on the final year of the soundengineering program here. During spring I'm supposed to make my final thesis project, and I'm currently looking up various companies and ideas for this...

Project length/size
- The size of the project is 3/4 of the whole spring season, so say about 3-4 months fulltime, or something like that.

Specific interests
- Games are of big interest to me. Something similiar to making music/sfx/soundscapes for a game would be really cool. I would need to come up with some kind of investigating point of view, as it's suppsed to be at least somewhat technical in nature, but it shouldn't be too hard to come up with something, if there's a game to make stuff for... in a few years I hope to have learned to program enough to be able to fully take part of the sound-desigining in game-projects.

Any other interests?
- Movie-scores/foleywork/sfx etc. is quite similiar to major game-audio designing, so that stuff is of interest too.
The education is actually slightly leaned towards live-performances, I already work extra as a soundtechnician at live sets, but I'd prefer to make some kind of design towards movies/games. But if the right idea and oppurtunity turns up, I'll be interested...

Where at?
- The school studio is in Sweden, but I don't mind travelling somewhere to do the project (f.ex. I could go somewhere to record everything, then take it all back with me and mix it in Sweden). I'm flexible, in other words. Australia might actually make alot of sense, since I'm thinking about going there for a year, using the "working holiday visa" (which is valid for one year)...

SSSDFGHHH WHAT DO YOU WANT US READERS FOR THEN?
- Weeell, I'm asking You, dear Newgrounds, if You have an idea or perhaps a good tips of what kind of audio-project I can undertake? I do have a couple of baits out already, but I'm activley searching so that I hopefully can choose between different projects and pick the one most suited to my interests.

Yaaay!

hmm you could score an animated film! i guess you'd need to find one though....just an idea in addition to games though

yeah, that would be cool... i should probably look up schools and companies that makes animations... :)

Can't you just fart into a microphone?

I'd give you an A for that.

frrrrrrrr

The farting in a mic idea sounds really good. Try doing that.

ok ok ok...

You could come record everything I say for a whole day then mix it into a song. Autotune is still popular right?

record EVERYTHING! But Tommy Wiseau already did that... and autotune got competition from this goat: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DP bvvRt5MoU&translated=1

:(

Score a novel.

that could be cool, i've actually had in mind making small stories in audio only (and hopefully have animators animate over them), but in the end i need to make something that's at least somewhat technical, plus i'll need a script. which takes some time to make... it's a good idea though. :)

Maybe something like that Residents album; The Gingerbread Man, tell a whole bunch of vaguely similar stories in song. Wouldn't even need words if you mix it with relevant media.

Or you could fly out and record a bunch of gunshots and arrange it into a song. Could call it the shotgun sonata.

cool idea... never seen/heard Th Gingerbread Man though. Gonna look it up...
the idea of making a soundbank still is one of the things that's still alive and kicking. including bitchload of weapons-samples, of course :)

please smaller text wallies

Where are my hookers at?

Happy Halloween, you fatget!

will yu do the score for my animated movie i make in 2017?
